DescriptionLA VIE DU RAIL depicts the interactions between movement and stability, between transit and abode along a railway line in Mali, West Africa. Based on anthropological research, the camera converges with a form of life that is subject to rifts of loss and nostalgia as well as renewal and dynamics.
The short documentary was edited during the Editing short course of 2011 at the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology in Manchester with the kind support of Andy Lawrence, David Henderson and John Lancaster. It is part of the web project «LA VIE DU RAIL – A railway line in Mali as transitory space», published as an interactive website accessible on laviedurail.net, layouted and realized by Zentralnorden mbH. It combines text, photography, audio and film in order to converge multisensually and perceive participants, researcher and recipients as subjects of the interaction.
