Authors
The book chapter focuses on residential group care settings in Germany. Profound findings on different types of subcultures in residential group care settings are presented based on the comprehensive qualitative study titled “Participation in Residential Childcare.” Depending on the investigated types of residential group subcultures, very different forms and possibilities of participatory processes and complaints by children and young people in their daily life within the facilities are presented. Additionally, the underlying power structures as well as victimization processes endured by children and young people are analyzed and evaluated.
