Climate Change will have a strong influence on future society. The dissertation analyses how direct impacts and the mitigation and adaptation strategies that come with climate change will change regional conflict situations. The research deals with current conflicts as well as possible conflict potentials in the special field of tourism with others non-tourism actors and focuses on the two German destinations Black Forest and the North Sea coast. Interviews show that mitigation and adaptation strategies, often seen as instruments solving conflicts, can rather be described as a cause of future conflicts. The stakeholders on site prefer formal processes, but also informal participatory dialogues to regulate these new conflict potentials.
